Set the Operating Modes Answer or Originate
By factory default, the INSYS Modem 336 LL 2D/4D 5.x Originate / Answer is usually de-
livered for operation in originate or answer mode. To operate a leased line, you will al-
ways require two modems, one in originate mode and one in answer mode. Despite the
preset factory default, the INSYS Modem 336 LL 2D/4D 5.x Originate / Answer can be
reconfigured for the other mode. This may be reasonable if a leased line is being re-
paired, and a device with the wrong mode is available to replace the affected device. Af-
ter configuring the available device for operation in the mode of the failed device, you
can replace the devices.
For changing only the 2 or 4 wire operation, it’s sufficient to set the
AT&L
parameter.
Configuration with AT commands
To configure for originate / 2 wire
mode operation, use the following
commands in succession:
ATS11=3
ATS7=50
To configure for answer / 2 wire
mode operation, use the following
commands in succession:
ATS11=1
ATS7=30
To configure for originate / 4 wire
mode operation, use the following
commands in succession:
ATS11=7
ATS7=50
To configure for answer / 4 wire
mode operation, use the following
commands in succession:
ATS11=5
ATS7=30
