control the boiler temperature. It is
always an advantage to have a radiator
in the same room as the stove to aid
the room heating.
Pre-firing checks
The sealing material in the flue
connections and any mortar used in the
installation will require some time to
set fully.
Before the first fire is started in
the stove, re-check all the flue
joints for soundness, Check that the
riddler mechanism is free and clear.
Ensure that the baffle assembly is
fitted correctly and that the facade
is fitted properly and that the damper
operates properly. Check that there
are no leaks in the piping and be
aware that some small leaks will only
appear when the stove is fired.
Use smoke pellets, placed on the grate
and observe that the smoke is being
properly vented at the top of the
chimney.
First Firing &
Commissioning
A small fire can now be started in the
stove. Use only small pieces of
kindling leaving the door ajar taking
care that the smoke is being drawn up
through the stove and out the chimney.
Maintain the small fire for at least a
half hour to properly set the sealing
materials without cracking them from
excess heat.
After the paint has been cured as
described in the user section the
system should be brought up slowly to
full operating temperature and a full
check be carried out on all the piping
systems to ensure that all the
radiators and Domestic hot water are
heating as expected and that there are
no leaks when the piping is hot.
Manually operate the damper to check
that it is operating correctly.
Quite often some adjustment of the
pump speed and pipe stat temperatures
will be needed to ‘dial in’ the
controls for proper operation.
The Commissioning form that
accompanies this manual MUST be fully
filled out and signed as instructed
and the user must keep the document
safe in case of any warranty issues
going forward.
If everything is correct, instruct the
user as to the operation of the stove
and advise them that the user manual
should be read thoroughly
