5.3 Electrical connection
Before opening the front door, ensure that there are no live voltages inside the cabinet.
This requires disconnecting the unit from the PV array and power supply.
It is also essential to close the unit before connecting it to the PV array or the mains.
In inspection, control or handling tasks:
Conduct an electrical test to check that neither the no part of the unit is
connected electrically to the grid or any of the photovoltaic panels.
When checking that there is no voltage, wearing dielectric gloves and safety
goggles approved for electrical hazards is required.
After disconnecting the unit from the PV array and the grid, wait at least
10 minutes before opening the door. Internal capacitances may still hold
hazardous voltages.
As long as the panels are exposed to the light, the DC cables will carry
potentially dangerous voltage levels.
Once the unit has been mounted in its final position and has been solidly secured, make the electrical connections
to it.
5.3.1 Description of cable inlets
INGECON
SUN SMART TL units have cable inlets through the bottom of the housing. Each type is described
below.
5.3.1.1 Quick connectors for DC connection
The units have three sets of CD inputs, each suitable for connecting up to 4 strings. The connectors supplied as
standard are FV Type 4 quick connectors, though Type 3 connectors may be specially ordered.
