Encoder Setup
Touch the
Encoder
tab at the bottom of the
System Setup
screen to access encoder
options.
Touch either the External encoder, at left, or the Internal timer, at right. The choice will be
indicated by a gray box on the screen.
The External encoder is used if the line speed varies or has frequent starts and stops. Res-
olution cannot be changed; it is fixed at 300 pulses per inch (ppi) for Impulse Jet, and 100
ppi for Integrated Valve.
The Internal timer is used if the line speed is constant, with a minimum of starts and stops.
If choosing the internal timer, it is necessary to set the conveyor line speed that will be
used. (See
Appendix D: Performance Parameters
for maximum line speeds).
NOTE:
When configuring Task 2, a different encoder setup screen is displayed with the
option of using the Task 1 encoder and/or photosensor. (For more on hardware configura-
tion, see the system operation manual.)
