Programmable Outputs
The Protege PGM Expander has 16 Programmable Outputs (PGMs). The PGMs are used to activate Bell Sirens,
Lighting Control and Automation Points. A full FORM C relay output the units are ideal for the interface to
building automation and control.

Switching inductive loads that can produce high back EMF voltages or large voltage induced spikes
can cause the 16 PGM Output Expander to behave unexpectedly and should be avoided. A suitable
isolation circuit must be installed between the relay contacts of the 16 PGM Output Expander and the
inductive load.
