3.4.5 Scanning with Transparent Holder
This section explains how to scan document with transparent holder.
NOTICE:
Sometimes the condition of the transparent holder causes paper jam.
Use it after testing the scanning and image quality.

Transparent Holder

-Size: The maximum sheet size (305mm X 458mm) or less

Cut the transparent holder to the document size. (recommended)
Or select “Transparent holder scanning” mode and specify the transparent holder width
and length as a sheet size on the application program.

Thickness: 0.2mm or less (Total thickness of the transparent holder)

Color: Transparent and colorless

Example for the scanning with transparent holder
To scan paper shown below it is recommended to do the manual scan with the transparent
holder.

Sheet with severe damages (sheet which may be damaged in the feeding/scanning
operation)

Sheet which may contaminate inside the device such as carbon lined sheet

Sheet to be prevented from being dirt (transcription, borrowed sheet, etc.)

Sheet out of the specification of 48mm X 74mm or less (it is necessary to put a pasted
board of the sheet specification)

Sheet with the perforation which is easy to be cut

Sheet with post-it noted

Sheet in different shapes (other than rectangle, big corner cut, jaggy edges)

Sheet to be scan as folded

Using transparent holder

Scan mode: Manual scanning mode is recommended. Refer to “ 3.4.4 Manual Scanning ”.

Scanning direction: The closed part of the transparent holder should be the top side for
feeding.

Character recognition: The character recognition accuracy of the image using the
transparent holder is not guaranteed.

Replacement cycle: Replace periodically depending on the degree of scratch or dirt.

Multi feed detection: Multi feed detection doesn’t work when scanning transparent holder.
Disable by the application program.

Other notes

If there is a blank in the transparent holder, a paper jam, noise and others may occur.
Check the above-mentioned “Using transparent holder” for the details.

Use the sheet after removing clips or staples.

Do not fold or deform the transparent holder. It may affect the scanning.
