tray

secure
the
drive
tray
to
the
system
board.

Removing
a
SAS
drive
tray
Some
expansion
cards
require
SAS
drive
1
and
the
corresponding
drive
tray
to
be
replaced
with
an
expansion-card
tray.
Depending
on
the
blade
server
model,
an
expansion-card
tray
might
already
be
installed.
The
following
illustration
shows
how
to
remove
a
SAS
drive
tray
in
the
blade
server.
To
remove
a
drive
tray,
complete
the
following
steps:
1.
Read
the
safety
information
that
begins
on
page
“Safety”
on
page
v
and
“Installation
guidelines”
on
page
17.
2.
Carefully
lay
the
blade
server
on
a
flat,
static-protective
surface.
3.
Open
the
blade
server
cover
(see
“Opening
the
blade
server
cover”
on
page
20
for
instructions).
4.
If
an
MPE
unit
or
an
expansion
unit
is
attached
to
the
blade
server,
remove
the
device
(see
“Removing
an
expansion
unit”
on
page
21).
5.
Locate
SAS
connector
1
and
remove
the
SAS
drive
if
one
is
installed
(see
“Removing
a
SAS
drive”
on
page
26).
6.
Locate
the
drive
tray
for
SAS
connector
1
(see
“Blade
server
connectors”
on
page
14).
7.
Use
a
screwdriver
to
remove
the
four
screws
that
attach
the
drive
tray
to
the
system
board.
Save
the
screws
in
a
safe
place.
8.
Lift
the
drive
tray
out
of
the
blade
server.
Keep
the
drive
tray
in
a
safe
place.
9.
Use
a
screwdriver
to
install
two
of
the
screws
back
into
the
two
screw
holes
on
the
system
board
closest
to
the
middle
of
the
blade
server.
