grounded rack component in the rack in which you are installing the device for at
least 2 seconds. This drains static electricity from the package and from your
body.

Remove the device from its package and install it directly into the blade server
without setting it down. If it is necessary to set the device down, place it in its
static-protective package. Do not place the device on the blade server cover or
on a metal table.

Take additional care when handling devices during cold weather because heating
reduces indoor humidity and increases static electricity.
v
When working on the BladeCenter T unit, use an electrostatic discharge (ESD)
wrist strap, especially when you will be handling modules, options, and blade
servers. To work properly, the wrist strap must have a good contact at both ends
(touching your skin at one end and firmly connected to the ESD connector on the
front or back of the BladeCenter T unit).
Major components of the blade server
Figure 7 shows the locations of major components in the blade server. You need to
remove the blade server from the BladeCenter unit and remove the blade server
cover to see the components.
