9 Rinsing / cleaning the FCU
The FCU is a measurement device for determining fluid purity.
In order to exclude the possibility of fluid mixing and the erro-
neous measurement results that would ensue from this, de-
fined (i.e. clean) starting conditions are required.
You will find details on rinsing the FCU and cleaning it on the
outside in the following.
9.1 FCU flushing
Flush the FCU after each use, but at least daily, with cleaned
mineral oil.
Rinse the FCU immediately if you have measured unfiltered oil
or oil with a viscosity > 200 mm²/s or if the measured values
seem unusually high or low.
NOTICE
Impermissible flushing media
The FCU will be destroyed.

Flush the FCU with low-viscosity mineral oils or mineral
oil-based raffinates with flash points higher
than 55°C / 131°F.

Never flush the FCU with universal thinners or other de-
greasing fluids.
Flush the FCU as described below:

Put approx. 0.5 liters of filtered oil into a clean container.
