Interface backup in common active/standby mode monitors the status of the physical link
between two directly connected routers. You can configure association between interface backup
and NQA to detect the status of the upstream link. On RouterA, configure an NQA test instance
to detect connectivity for the primary link. When the NQA test instance detects that the primary
link is faulty, the backup interface is started. This ensures non-stop transmission of data services.
To configure association between interface backup and NQA, you only need to establish an
NQA test instance on RouterA.

Configuration Roadmap
The configuration roadmap is as follows:
1.
Configure an NQA test instance on RouterA.
2.
Configure association between interface backup and NQA on backup interface GE2/0/0 of
RouterA.
Data Preparation
To complete the configuration, you need the following data as shown in
:
l
IP addresses and static routes of interfaces on RouterA, RouterB, RouterC, and RouterD
l
Administrator and name of the NQA test instance
l
NQA test instance type (the NQA test instance can only be ICMP)
l
Destination IP address of the NQA test instance
l
Start and end modes of the NQA test instance
Configuration Procedure
1.
Configure connectivity at the network layer.
# Assign an IP address to each interface. Use RouterA as an example.
