1.4.2 Specifying a Backup Interface

After a backup interface is specified, it starts to transmit services with the primary interface if
the primary interface is overloaded.

Context

In load balancing mode, traffic is load balanced among multiple interfaces.

Procedure

Step 1

The system view is displayed.

Step 2

The primary interface view is displayed.

A backup interface is specified and the priority of the backup interface is set.

NOTE

Only WAN-side interfaces can function as primary and backup interfaces. The primary and backup
interfaces can be of different types.

To configure multiple backup interfaces for a primary interface, run the

standby interface

command

multiple times.

A primary interface can be configured with a maximum of three backup interfaces.

A backup interface can be configured for only one primary interface.

A maximum of 10 primary interfaces can be configured on an AR.

Interface

You need to set the bandwidth on the primary interface based on networking requirements.

Context

In load balancing mode, the maximum bandwidth of the primary interface needs to be set.
