Using the Analyzer
To Monitor Alarms and Errors

On the summary Channel Monitor, look for
•
alarms and errors in the lower protocol layers and see what effects
they had on the higher layers
•
the bandwidth during the periods that alarms and errors occurred to
see whether the bandwidth was affected
On the protocol specific Channel Monitor, look for
•
alarms of similar duration
•
errors with similar counts

Note All alarms and errors that occur at the physical layer affect the ATM layer, and
might render all ATM statistics invalid.
