The ALTACCT command enables a system administrator to c hange the
parameters of an existing accoun t.

P arameters
ac ctname Sp ecies the name of the accoun t that y ou w an t to alter. The
name m ust consist of one to eigh t alphan umeric c haracters,
b eginning with an alphab etic c haracter.
PASS Sp ecies the accoun t passw ord, only used for v erifying logon
access. En tering the ALTACCT command without this parameter
retains the curren t passw ord. En tering PASS without sp ecifying
p asswor d remov es the existing passw ord. En tering PASS and
sp ecifying p asswor d c hanges the curren t passw ord or creates
one if a passw ord did not previously exist.
CAP Sp ecies the list of capabilities p ermitted for this accoun t that
w ere assigned with the NEWACCT command. Eac h capabilit y is
indicated b y a t w o-letter mnemonic, separated b y commas, as
follows:
SM = System manager
AM = Account manager
DI = Diagnostician
OP = System supervisor
NA = Network administrator
NM = Node manager
SF = Save files
ND = Access to nonshareable I/O devices
UV = Use volumes
