Before removing the processor, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.
Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and
then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4.
Remove the battery (see
Battery on page 46
).
5.
Remove the following components:
a.

b.
Switch cover (see

c.
Fan (see

)
d.
Heat sink (see

Remove the processor:
NOTE:
Steps 1 and 2 apply only to HP Compaq 6530b computer models. See steps 3 and 4 for
instructions on removing the processor on HP Compaq 6535b computer models.

Use a flat-bladed screwdriver to turn the processor locking screw
(1)
one-half turn counterclockwise
until you hear a click.
