Before removing the heat sink, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.
Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and
then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4.
Remove the battery (see
Battery on page 46
).
5.
Remove the keyboard (see
Keyboard on page 61
).
6.
Remove the fan (see
Fan on page 66
).
Remove the heat sink:
NOTE:
Steps 1 through 4 apply only to HP Compaq 6530b computer models. See steps 5 through 8
for removing the heat sink on HP Compaq 6535b computer models.
1.
Loosen the two Phillips PM2.0×4.0 captive screws
(1)
that secure the heat sink clip to the heat
sink.
2.
Remove the heat sink clip
(2)
by sliding it to the right, and then lifting it up.
3.
Lift the right side of the heat sink
(1)
until it releases from the system board components.
NOTE:
Due to the adhesive quality of the thermal material located between the heat sink and
system board components, it may be necessary to move the heat sink from side to side to detach
it.
