Before removing the system fan, follow these steps:

1.

Prepare the computer for disassembly (see 

Preparation for disassembly on page 34

).

2.

Remove the bottom cover (see 

Bottom cover on page 34

).

3.

Disconnect the battery cable from the system board (see 

Battery on page 36

).

Remove the system fan:

1.

Disconnect the system fan cable (1) from the system board.

2.

Remove the two Phillips M2.0 × 4.1 screws (2) that secure the system fan to the computer.

3.

Remove the system fan (3) from the computer.

Reverse this procedure to install the system fan.

Display assembly

To remove and disassemble the display assembly, use these procedures and illustrations.

IMPORTANT:

After replacing the display panel assembly, it is necessary to download and run the service tool to 

update the new ambient light sensor (ALS) data to the system BIOS. Please search for the related Service 

Advisory in WISE for details.

IMPORTANT:

After replacing the display panel assembly, it is necessary to reload the calibration data. The 

calibration update is available on the HP website under HP Customer Support – Software and Driver Downloads.
