7. SERVICE INSTRUCTIONS
EARTH CABLES
S
ummary:
This service instruction outlines the procedure to replace earth cables.
Tools Required:
• 4mm hex key
• #2 square drive screwdriver
• 7mm spanner (control box earth cable)
• 5mm hex key (control box earth cable)
• side cutters
Parts Required:
• earth cable (as required). (Refer to earth cables, section 9, for earth cable lengths and part numbers).
• cable ties (as required)
Location:
Earth cables are used to connect metal components to the earth terminal on the control box, either directly
or in a series. The earth cables are distinguishable by their green and yellow colouring.
WARNING:
Ensure a portable appliance test is conducted after an
earth cable has been replaced.
WARNING:
Ensure all cables are secured away from moving
parts. Use existing cable management routing.
WARNING:
Do not over tighten the cable. Make sure not
to pinch the cable between any components.
Ensure cabling is clear of any sharp edges.
CAUTION:
When reattaching the earth cable, care should be taken to
ensure correct orientation.
Procedure:
1. Raise the deck to the maximum height position and apply castor
brakes.
2. Unplug the power cord from the mains supply.
3. If necessary, remove the plastic bogie cover and set aside.
4. If replacing an earth cable connected to the control box:
i. Using a 5mm hex key, remove the two M6x12 cap screws
securing the control box cover plate to the deck.
ii. Slide the tabs of the cover plate out of the slots in the deck
frame and rotate the cover plate so the control box ports are
visible.
5. If replacing the earth cable connected to the backrest, raise the
backrest high enough to access the earth cable’s screw.
6. Cut any cable ties securing the earth cable.
7. Using a 4mm hex key and/or a #2 square drive screwdriver,
disconnect the earth cable. Retain the washer on either end for
reassembly.
NOTE:
The control box earth cable requires a 7mm spanner.
8. Reverse the procedure to install the new earth cable (see Caution
above).
NOTE:
Secure the earth cable parallel onto any axle or rail, with the
heat shrink flat against the frame (see Figure 17).
