Opening Disks
With their wedge shaped arrangement the
opening disks open the seed trench for the seed
placement.
In order to avoid blockage and uneven wear of
the opening disks, the disks are screwed
on so they are in contact with each other at
the front.
When the disks wear they will no longer be in
contact.
In this case the disks must be replaced or
adjusted.

Unscrew the gauge wheels - see
section on wheels.
Unscrew the bolts (1) and remove the disk.
Unscrew the bolt (2) and remove it together
with the bearing.
Depending on the amount of wear, remove
the shims (3) until the disks are in contact at
the front. Tighten the bolt with 90 ft-lbs.
Fasten the disk again with the bolts(1).
After changes to the disks check the
position of the gauge wheels. (see section
on gauge wheels)
Scraper
There is a scraper mounted between the
opening disks. This scraper prevents sticking and
blocking of the disks.
The scraper can move in its bracket. This is
why it will not block and ensures better cleaning,
especially with cohesive soils.
Maintenance
During operation check the scrapers at regular
intervals, at least once every week for wear.
When replacing the opening disks you should
also replace the scrapers.
For all repair and maintenance work
requiring the machine to be raised, the
machine needs to be supported by
appropriate means. Do not work under
a lifted, but inadequately secured
machine.
Always wear adequate protective
equipment for all repair and maintenance
work.
