CONTROLS
FUEL VALVE
The fuel valve [1] opens and closes the
connection between the fuel tank and the
carburetor.
THROTTLE LEVER
For best cut quality, always mow
with the throttle lever in the FAST
position. When the cutting means
rotate at the preset fast speed,
they create a strong fan action that
lifts and cuts grass more efficiently.
Do not try to increase the preset
FAST engine speed; the cutting
means could fracture and come
apart.
CUTTING MEANS CONTROL SYSTEM
To start cutting means
rotation, make sure the
engine is running and the
throttle lever is in the FAST
position.
1. Push down and hold the
Roto-Stop
®
button [1]
.
2. Pull the cutting-means
control lever [2] quickly
against the handlebar
allowing the engine to
bring the cutting means up
to full speed and then
release the Roto-Stop
button.
Continue to hold the cutting-means control lever against the
handlebar to maintain cutting means rotation. Always keep the
cutting-means control lever fully engaged while mowing. Do not
partially disengage - doing so will reduce the life of the clutch system.
Release the cutting-means control lever to stop cutting means
rotation. Always release the cutting means control lever before
starting the engine to prevent the cutting means from rotating.
SELECT DRIVE CONTROL
With the engine
running and the
cutting means
rotating, slowly push
the Select Drive
control [1] to propel
the mower forward.
Normal operation is
with your hand
comfortably around
the handle bar and Select Drive control. Push the Select Drive control
with your thumb into the indentation for boost operation (up a hill, or
through thick grass).
You can reduce the ground speed by partially releasing the Select
Drive control.
Ground speed varies with terrain, grass height, slope, and grass bag
weight. Moving the Select Drive knob or varying how far you push the
Select Drive control forward allows you to maintain the desired ground
speed under constantly changing mowing conditions.
Release the Select Drive control to disengage (stop) the rear wheels.
Disengage the drive when mowing around trees and other obstacles.
Push the mower around obstacles for better directional control.
Adjusting The Select Drive Control Knob
The Select Drive control knob [1]
allows you to adjust the maximum
ground speed when the Select
Drive lever is fully engaged.
Adjustment is from MIN to MAX.
With the Select Drive lever fully
engaged:
MIN
will propel the lawnmower at its
slowest speed.
MAX
will propel the lawnmower at its fastest speed.
.
CUTTING HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT LEVERS
There are
seven
adjustment
settings. The
cutting height
figures are
approximate.
The actual
height of cut
grass will vary
with lawn and
soil conditions.
There is one adjustment
lever [1] for each wheel.
CLIP DIRECTOR
KNOB
The Clip Director knob [1]
controls grass catching,
mulching, and rear
discharge. The knob has
ten adjustment positions.
