Installation Notes
•
To install the rear wheel, reverse the removal
procedure.
•
Install the side collars into the left and right side
wheel hub.
•
Tighten the rear axle nut and brake stopper arm nut
to specified torque.
Rear axle nut torque:
88 N·m (9.0 kgf·m, 65 lbf·ft)
Brake stopper arm nut torque:
22 N·m (2.2 kgf·m, 16 lbf·ft)
•
Adjust the rear brake pedal freeplay (page 20) and
drive chain (page 54).
•
After installing the wheel, apply the brake several
times, and check for free wheel rotation when
released.
If a torque wrench was not used for installation, see
your Honda dealer as soon as possible to verify proper
assembly. Improper assembly may lead to loss of
braking capacity.
A used cotter pin may not effectively secure the
fastener. Always replace the used cotter pin with
new one.
Brake Shoe Wear
(Refer to the Safety Precautions on page 41.)
The front and rear brakes are equipped with brake
wear indicators.
When the brake is applied, an arrow (1) attached to
the brake arm (2) moves toward a reference mark (3)
on the brake panel (4). If the arrow aligns with the
reference mark on full application of the brake, the
brake shoes must be replaced. See your Honda dealer
for this service.
When the brake service is necessary, see your Honda
dealer. Use only genuine Honda parts or its equivalent.
