5. Installation and Start-Up
5.1. General
•
The following points must be noted to prevent dam-
ages in the pump during installation and commission-
ing:
•
The pump must be checked for possible damages
prior to installation.
•
The minimum submersion in water must be consid-
ered for level control.
•
Air pockets in the pump casing and in pipes must be
avoided (by means of appropriate venting facilities or
slight tilting of the pump).
•
Protect the pump from frost.
•
The power lines of the pump must run in a way that
hazard-free operation and easy assembly/disassem-
bly is possible.
5.2. Installation
Danger of falls!
When mounting the pump and its accessories work
is carried out directly at the edge of the basin! Care-
lessness or wrong footwear can lead to falls. There
is danger to life! Take all safety measures to prevent
this.
The pump can be used with or without a carrying frame.
Before the pump can be removed from the carrying frame,
the fixing strap must first be loosened. When the pump
is operated with the carrying frame, it should be secured
with the fixing strap again. Connect the accompanying
hose to the pressure connection of the pump. Place the
„Flut-Set“ or the pump on a firm, level surface. If the sup-
porting surface is muddy, stony or the like, lay the pump
under the carrying frame to prevent it sinking.
When using the hose it must be ensured that this is laid
our without bends. When using accessories, such as a
quick coupling, or similar, it has to be ensured that these
are sealed with teflon tape, since leakage reduces the
conveyor performance of the pump.
Automatic float switch
If the water level increases to a determined maximum lev-
el (switching point), the floating float switches the pump
automatically on. If the water level is sunk to a determined
minimum level (tripping point) due to pumping down, the
float switches the pump off.
The reacting distance, e.g. the water level difference be-
tween switching point and tripping point can be deter-
mined individually.
Please note the following information for perfect function:
•
The mountings as well as the length of the freely
moveable end of the float cable must be adjusted to
the desired switch level. It has to be ensured here
that the switch level of the pump is below the en-
trance pipe so that an obstruction of the pumping
medium can be avoided. The tripping point must be
above the upper edge of the pump casing so that no
air pockets can develop in the pump, which requires
under circumstances de-aerating of the pump.
•
Under no circumstances the float with the cable must
be thrown into the medium, since correct switch is
only possible with a rotational movement of the float
around the mounting point of the cable. Possible con-
sequences in the event of non-compliance are flood-
ing (the pump does not start)/destruction of the pump
due to dry run (the pump does not switch off).
•
When using separate floats for start of the pump,
stop of the pump and alarm the switch levels have to
be chosen as described above. The alarm float should
switch approximately 10 cm above the switch point
of the pump, however always below the input.
•
Important: After each change of the mounting of the
float a correct function of the float switch must be
checked with a test run.
5.3. Start-Up
This chapter contains all important instructions for oper-
ating personnel for safe commissioning and operation of
the machinery
The following points must be taken into account to avoid
personal and material damage when troubleshooting ma-
chinery failures:
The commissioning of the machinery must only be
carried out by qualified and trained personnel in com-
pliance with the safety regulations.
•
All personnel that is working on the machinery must
have received, read and understood the operating in-
structions.
•
This machinery is only suitable for the use under the
indicated operating conditions.
Never let the pump run dry for longer periods of time
(risk of overheating).
5.4. Electrical system
The respective local and VDE regulations must be com-
plied with when choosing and installing the electrical
leads as well as connecting the motor. The motor must be
protected by a motor protection switch.
Have the motor connected in accordance with the „Wir-
ing connection“ data sheet. Pay attention to the direction
of rotation. If the direction of rotation is incorrect, the ma-
chine will not perform as specified, and under certain cir-
cumstances, can become damaged.
Electric shock hazard!
Faulty dealing with current may jeopardize your life!
All pumps with free cable ends must be connected by
a qualified electrician.
5.5. Switch-on types
Switch-on types with plug
Insert the plug into the socket provided for.
5.5.1. After switching on
The rated current is surpassed quickly during the start-
up process. After termination of this process the work
current should not exceed the rated current. If the mo-
tor does not start immediately after switch-on, it must be
switched off immediately.
