42 Test Procedure
The HINIKER plows, model years 1996 - 1999,
are equipped with one of the following sets of
headlight assemblies depending on the specific
year of manufacture.
Years
Driver
Passenger
1995 - 1998
25010146
25010147
1999
25010725
25010726
Other than having more modern styling, the new-
er 25010725 and 25010726 are direct replace-
ments for the older 25010146 and 25010147
headlight assemblies. Due to the simplicity of
the assemblies, the only test procedure required
is to use the information below as a guide.
Like vehicle headlights, plow headlights gener-
ally have one problem, bulbs burn out. A meter
or troubleshooting light can be used to verify that
a bulb filament is bad but many simply replace
the bulb to see if that fixes the problem. Both the
headlight and turn/park bulbs are standard bulb
types and should be readily available.
Another method that can be used is to swap the
suspect bulb with one from the other plow head-
light as both driver and passenger headlights
use the same bulbs. If the bulb is not bad then
only wiring and connectors remain. Again, a me-
ter or troubleshooting light can be used to check
the wiring.
NOTE:
The headlights rely on the mounting
bolt (see wiring schematic) to provide them with
ground. A poor ground connection can cause in-
termittent problems with the parking lights, turn
signals, high beams and low beams.
