PPM Operation for B Model Beds (P1600B)
Enable (Key)
The Enable switch is only used to disable the system. The PPM system can be turned off or deactivated
by pressing and holding the Enable switch and any Mode switch.
System Power
Turning on the system:
For best results, the patient should be centered on the
mattress.
Turn on the system by pressing the desired Mode key:
Position, Exiting, or Out of Bed.
Turning off the system:
To turn the system off, simultaneously press and hold the
Enable switch and any Mode key until all of the lights under
the Mode and Volume keys are off.
Modes of Operation
Changing the modes of operation: The PPM controls include the Off setting and three different modes of operation:
Position, Exiting, and Out of Bed. The modes and indicator lights are listed as follows:

Position (Position indicator light on)
•
Exiting (Exiting indicator light on)
•
Out of Bed (Out of Bed indicator light on)
•
Off (all indicator lights off)
The caregiver can change the mode of operation by first turning the system off, then turning it on in the desired Mode.
NOTE:
If the PPM system is on, unplugging the bed causes the PPM to send a nurse call until power is restored.
