GENERAL INFORMATION
DESCRIPTION
This Category IV, 135 oF maximum vent temperature, sealed
combustion furnace is designed for residential installation in a
basement, closet, recreation room or garage, provided space
temperature is 32°F or higher. Model PBNU Style C units are
available for direct installation using natural gas (N) or propane
(P). Ensure the pr.oper model is installed for the available fuel
gas.
Model PBNU {P) units may be converted to natural gas if
factory supplied components are used. High altitude conver
sions required in order for the appliance to satisfactorily meet
the application must be made by a UPG distributor, conversion
station or other qualified agency, using factory specified and/or
approved parts.

INSPECTION
As soon as a unit is received, it should be inspected for possible
damage during transit. If damage is evident, the extent of the
damage should be noted on the carrier's freight bill. A separate
request for inspection by the carrier's agent should be made in
writing. Also, before installation the unit should be checked for
screws or bolts which may have loosened in transit. There are
no shipping or spacer brackets which need to be removed.

The furnace must not be used as a broom closet or for any
other storage purposes as a fire hazard may be created: Never
store items such as the following on, near, or in contract with
the furnace.
1. Spray or aerosol cans, rags, brooms, dust mops, vacuum
cleaners or other cleaning tools.
2. Soap powders, bleaches, waxes or other cleaning com
pounds; plastic items or containers; gasoline, kerosene,
cigarette lighter fluid; dry-cleaning fluids or other volatile
fluid.
3. Paint thinners and other painting compounds.
4. Paper bags or other paper products.
WARNING:
Never operate the furnace with the blower door
removed. To do so could result in serious personal injury
and/or equipment damage.
WARNING:
This furnace

air intake and vent fines. The furnace shalf not be con
nected to any type of

and not connected to any portion of a factory-built or
masonry chimney.
If this (urnace is replacing a common-vented furnace, it
may
be
necessary to resize the existing vent fine and
chimney to prevent oversizing problems for the new com
bination of units. Refer to the National Gas Code (ANSI
Z223.1-)
