For the individual probe sizes, this means:
In order to ensure that a critical intra-abdominal pressure level is not exceeded, the trocar valve must
be opened during laparoscopic applications. If an insufflator pressure alarm gives off a signal, the argon
application must be stopped until the intra-abdominal pressure has dropped back to below the critical
level.
Whichever method is used to monitor intra-abdominal pressure by an insufflator, independent and
continuous monitoring of intra-abdominal pressure by the OP team is a requirement. The use of a
pressure release-controlled insufflator is recommended.
4.1 Connecting the probe
Initially, ensure that the electrical surgical device and the (integrated) argon unit are ready for operation.
Ensure that the gas cylinder valve is open and that there is an adequate supply of gas (> 30 bar).
1. Remove the connecting cable (p. 3, [2]) and HEBU APC probe (page 3, [1]) from the sterilization
container under sterile conditions.
2. Carry out a visual inspection of the instrument for possible damage to the insulation.
Do not used damaged instruments! HEBUmedical warns users not to attempt to repair or patch up
damaged areas. The instrument is operated at high coagulation voltage levels!
3. Check whether the working channel of the endoscope is suitable for the required probe diameter
(3.2 mm, 2.3 mm or 1.5 mm).
4. Connect the three-pin plug of the connecting cable to the HEBU electrical surgery device.
5. Insert the required probe with plug into the coupling at the end of the connecting cable. Ensure that
the plug is pushed into the coupling as far as it will go.
6. Establish the argon gas connection to the electrical surgery device / the argon unit. To do this,
connect the female Luer lock connector of the connecting cable to the male Luer lock gas outlet of
the electrical surgery device / the argon beamer. If required, an intermediate sterile filter can be
connected.
7. Activate the function
“C”
at the electrical surgery device / the argon unit in order to flood the gas
lumina of the connecting cable and the probe with argon gas.
8. Actuate the blue foot pedal and check the system function (activate the argon beamer and
generator).
The probe is ready for operation.
