3. Operating the Universal Spring Vice:
General Information
• These instructions are provided as a guide only. Always make sure that you have a copy of the
appropriate vehicle manufacturer's service instructions, or another appropriate manual that provides
the correct information needed to correctly execute the work.
The operating instructions for the Safety Spring Vice 4900-2A must always be observed.
Spring strut disassembly
• Remove the MacPherson strut from the vehicle according to the manufacturer's instructions.
• Attached parts may need to be loosened or disassembled to insert the universal spring vice 4900-
2A.
• All components of the HAZET universal spring vice must be securely locked in place. Extend the HAZET
Universal Spring Vice in order to tension as many spring coils of the spring as possible.
Swivel the HAZET Universal Spring Vice into a vertical position. Turn the brake

outward (pull the
guide bolt

up and swivel). Move the removed strut together with the head plate or rather with the
spring plate onto the Universal Clamping Disc 4903-2.
