TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

Symptom

Probable Cause

Corrective Action

Toast too light.

Wrong menu item selected on touchscreen 

control.

Select the correct menu item for desired toasting results.

Supply voltage to unit is low.

Verify the supply voltage to the toaster matches the unit 

specifications.

Toast too dark.

Wrong menu item selected on touchscreen 

control.

Select the correct menu item for desired toasting results.

Supply voltage to unit is high.

Verify the supply voltage to the toaster matches the unit 

specifications.

Unit toasts on one side only.

Wrong menu item selected on touchscreen 

control.

Select the correct menu item for desired toasting results.

Heating element defective.

Visually check the heating element inside the toaster during 

operation. The heating element should glow red. If the 

element does not glow, Contact Authorized Service Agent 

or Hatco for assistance.

Toaster trips the circuit breaker 

or GFCI.

Circuit breaker is not sized properly for the 

toaster. 

Check circuit breaker for proper sizing.

Wiring fault inside toaster.

Contact Authorized Service Agent or Hatco for assistance.

Toaster conveyor doesn’t 

move.

Bread slices or buns jammed in conveyor 

track.

Turn off unit, wait for unit to cool, and remove bread product 

jamming the conveyor.

This unit must be serviced by qualified personnel only. 

Service by unqualified personnel may lead to electric 

shock or burn.

WARNING

ELECTRIC SHOCK HAZARD: Turn OFF power switch, 

unplug power cord, and allow unit to cool before 

performing any cleaning, setup, or maintenance.

Temperature Probe Error

Verify wire connections on RTD temperature probe. 

Check resistance across probe.

Replace temperature probe.

Control Board Overtemp

Check fan for physical blockage that would prevent fan 

from turning. Verify voltage to fan. Make sure unit is on 

legs and filter area is clear.

Replace cooling fan.

Heating Error

Verify all wire connections on relay and element. Check 

resistance across failing heating element.

Replace heating element.

Communication Error

Update software—download from Hatco website to USB 

drive. Follow the “Updating Firmware” procedure in 

OPERATION section of manual.

Replace electronic control.

Touch Panel Error

Check touchpad for grease and dirt buildup. Perform 

“Cleaning the Touchscreen Control” procedure in 

MAINTENANCE section on manual.

Replace electronic control.
