Page 21
5.1.3.3 Serial number (S)
With this function you can check the serial number of your Connect Braille. This can be
useful for service purposes.
5.1.3.4 Versions (V)
Here you can check the versions of several software modules of the Connect Braille.
5.1.3.4.1
Firmware
You can use this function to display the version number of the firmware. This is the same
version number that is displayed when you power up your Connect Braille.
5.1.3.4.2
Braille io
This module handles the Braille input/output.
5.1.3.4.3
USB Host
This module controls the connection of USB devices. At the moment only USB keyboards
are supported.
5.1.3.4.4
Bluetooth
This module deals with the wireless communication via Bluetooth.
5.1.4 Options (O)
The options described below are used for customizing your Connect Braille's features. The
various options are specified by using check boxes or radio buttons contained in the
submenus. You can review additional information regarding check boxes and radio buttons
in chapter 3.3.4 and 3.3.5. Entries, which lead to a sub menu are marked with an angle
bracket at the end.
The Options menu is closed as usual by pressing [TLC]. Closing the menu will
automatically save the new settings, so that they will still be in force even when the device
is turned off and then on again. The saving process is usually completed in less than one
second.
5.1.4.1 6 dots braille (6)
This option allows you to toggle between 8 dot Braille (computer Braille) and 6 dot Braille.
The 6 dot representation suppresses dots 7 and 8. Even if you enter text in 8 dot Braille,
e.g., for capitalization, your entries will be saved correctly.
5.1.4.2 Hotkeys Activate objects (A)
If this option is enabled, menu items can be activated in the relevant menu level via
hotkeys. This means:
•
sub menus will be opened immediately
•
check boxes change their state
•
radio buttons will be activated
