OPERATIONS MANUAL:
6 AMP PORTABLE BATTERY CHARGER
DC Connection Precautions
1) Connect and disconnect DC output clips only after removing AC cord from electric
outlet. Never allow the DC output clips to touch each other.
2) Check polarity of the battery posts. The POSITIVE (POS., P, +) battery post usually
has a larger diameter than the NEGATIVE (NEG., N, -) post.
3) Connect Red charger output wire to POSITIVE post, Black charger wire to NEGATIVE.
See below diagrams for more details.
4) Do not face the battery when making the final connection.
OPERATING THE CHARGER
The LED Function Chart below describes the charging process.

Condition
Red
Green
When the red LED is on, it indicates that your battery is
discharged and the 2606A is recharging at the "BULK" rate
(stage 1). This charging rate is 6 Amps.
While the red LED is on, the voltage measured (with the charger
on) will be approx. 11.8 to 14 Volts.
If the red LED stays on for more than 24 hours, refer to Problem
1 in the troubleshooting section in this manual.
Red &
Green
None
When both the green and the red LED’s are on, the 2606A is
charging at the "FINISHING" rate. (stage 2). During this second
charging stage, the charger holds the battery voltage at
approximately 14.6 VDC, and then gradually reduces the amount
of current (Amps) it delivers to the battery. By doing this, the
battery is able to “absorb” the last 10% of charge as quickly as
possible without becoming overheated.
If both LED’s stay on longer than 24 hours, refer to Problem 2 in
the troubleshooting section in this manual.
Green
Red
When the green LED is on, the 2606A is charging at a "FLOAT”
or “MAINTENANCE" rate of less than 1.5 Amps, (stage 3). Your
battery is now 90% charged and ready for use. This "float"
charging current will gradually decrease to as low as 0.1 Amps
as the battery reaches 100% charge. It will now be kept at full
charge without over-charging.
If the green LED stays on when your battery is known to be low,
refer to Problem 3 in the troubleshooting section in this manual.
Red
Flashing
Green
When the red LED is flashing on and off, the 2606A is connected
in reverse polarity (positive charger output terminal to negative
battery post and negative charger output terminal to positive
battery post). This means the charger is disabled and no current
is being delivered to the battery or battery voltage below 4V.
