OPERATIONS MANUAL:

  6 AMP PORTABLE BATTERY CHARGER

INTRODUCING THE CHARGER

The GUEST MTC 2606A is designed to both recharge your battery, and extend your

battery’s life in applications where it is stored for long periods of time. The 2606A is

a “3-stage” electronic battery charger. Lightweight, silent, completely automatic, and

reverse polarity protected, it produces 12 Volts DC at a full 6 Amps, while using much

less AC current than older chargers. Unlike automotive “trickle” chargers, the 2606A

will not boil off the electrolyte in properly installed and maintained batteries. When

the 2606A is attached to your battery and plugged into a standard 115 Volt / 60 Hz AC

outlet, the red and green LED’s let you know the unit is recharging and maintaining

your battery.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

!

WARNING  THIS CHARGER SHOULD BE USED TO CHARGE ONLY 12VOLT DC LEAD

ACID, AGM OR GEL CELL TYPE BATTERY SYSTEMS. USE ON OTHER THAN A 12 VDC

SYSTEM CAN CAUSE THE BATTERY TO EXPLODE AND CAUSE PERSONAL INJURY.

!

WARNING  THIS EQUIPMENT EMPLOYS PARTS, SUCH AS SWITCHES AND RELAYS,

THAT TEND TO PRODUCE ARCS OR SPARKS AND THEREFORE, IF USED IN A GARAGE,

LOCATE IN A ROOM OR ENCLOSURE PROVIDED FOR THE PURPOSE OR NOT LESS THAN

18 INCHES ABOVE THE FLOOR.

!

WARNING  RISK OF EXPLOSIVE GAS MIXTURE. Read instructions in manual before

using charger.
1)  Connect and disconnect battery leads only when supply cord is disconnected.
2)  For a battery installed in a vehicle, first connect charger output lead to ungrounded

battery post - not connected to automobile chassis - in accordance with polarity

identification and then opposite polarity lead to chassis away from battery; do not

connect to carburetor or fuel lines. Disconnect chassis lead first. For battery not

installed in vehicle, refer to Instruction Manual.

To reduce risk of battery explosion, follow these instructions and those published by

battery manufacturer and manufacturer of any equipment you intend to use in vicinity

of battery. Review cautionary marking on these products and on engine.

Important Safety Instructions

1)  Use of an attachment not recommended by the manufacturer may result in a risk

of fire, electric shock or injury to persons.

2)  To reduce the risk of damage to electric plug and cord, pull by plug rather than

cord when disconnecting the chargers.

3)  An extension cord should not be used unless absolutely necessary. Use of

improper extension cord could result in a risk of fire and electric shock. If an

extension cord must be used, make sure:
a)  That pins on plug of extension cord are the same number, size and shape as

those of the plug on the charger;

b)  That the extension cord is properly wired and in good electrical condition; and
c)  That wire size is large enough for AC ampere rating of the charger as specified below
