Setting up the answering machine
Recording an announcement
Before you first use the answering machine, you must
record at least one announcement for it. If you have not
recorded an announcement, »
NEW
...« will appear in
the display.
The answering machine gives you the option of choos-
ing between an announcement followed by message
recording (announcement and end text) or a simple
information text without recording a message (info
text).
However, we recommend recording and activating
both types of announcement, since the device automa-
tically switches to the info text when the voice recording
memory is full.
If you have only deactivated the announcement and
activated the info text, then this is always played.
When there is no recording capacity left, the »
›
«
symbol goes out and the »
—
« symbol is displayed.
In order to achieve the best recording quality, make
sure to record your announcement somewhere quiet.
If the device does not receive a signal it can process,
you will hear 4 short tones (negative acknowledge-
ment, see page 5) indicating that you must repeat the
recording procedure.
