• Combustible material shall not be stowed in the engine space. If
non-combustible materials are stowed in the engine space they
shall be secured from falling against the machinery and/or ob-
struct the access to it.
Danger
The hand extinguishers use CO
2
as an extinguishing medium. It shall
be used only to fight electric fires.
To avoid asphyxiation after discharge:
• LEAVE THE AREA IMMEDIATELY and VENTILATE BEFO-
REENTERING.
• Escape facilities other than the main companionway shall be
identified by the appropriate ISO symbol.
The Cantieri del Pardo also recommend:

Avoid fuel spillage in the bilges, especially in the engine room.
Should a fuel leak develop:
• stop immediately the engine;
• assess leak location and if possible repair, after closing fuel
valve;
• soak up the spilled fuel before restarting the engine.

Take particular care to avoid direct contact with high heat sources:
cooking ranges, halogen light bulbs, boiler etc.

As a pleasure craft operator, you should be familiar with standard
fire fighting techniques and procedures and the use of fire extin-
guishers.
Should a fire develop follow standard fire safety procedures.

Stop vessel.

Assess fire location and source.

Avoid inhaling smoke.

Extinguish fire following standard fire extinguishing techniques.
