Auto pilot
(Opt)
The following instructions do not replace the information
provided in the enclosed Owner’s Manual supplied by the
Manufacturer.
◊
The Automatic Pilot is an Optional equipment that allows to steer
the yacht automatically on a chosen course.
◊
The Grand Soleil 43' is designed for the installation of an electric
automatic pilot, fitted with the control arm directly connected to
the rudder stock through the main quadrant.
• The switch for activating the power supply to Automatic Pilot is
in the Instrument Section of the 12Vcc Electrical Panel.
• The controls for the Automatic Pilot are located on the control
panel of the auto pilot, in the cockpit, in front of the wheel.
Recommendations and Precautions
• Please keep in mind that when the Automatic Pilot is operating,
it also moves the steering wheel.
• Make sure that your hands, arms, feet do not get caught between
the spokes of the wheel and the bottom of the cockpit or the
binnacle.
• Do not leave objects which can prevent the movement of the
wheel, such as lines, sheets, bottles etc. in the steering cockpit
area.
• Never force the wheel when the Automatic Pilot is operating.
• In case of a major auto pilot malfunction, the linkage between the
auto pilot and the steering quadrant on the rudder shaft may be
interrupted by pulling the connecting pin. You might want to
perform this operation also while racing to reduce the wheel’s
drag and increase the feel.
• At the same time we would like to remind you that in case of a
breakage of the main steering components, you can still be able
to maintain the control of the vessel through the auto pilot since
it act directly on the rudder stock quadrant bypassing the main
steering mechanism.
