RP6 ROBOT SYSTEM - APPENDIX
5. RobotLoader does not show any Ports!
●
Check if the port is used from another application. The Ports are only shown
if not used by any other application – use “refresh portlist” menu item to up-
date the list.
●
If you are using Ubuntu 7.x or higher you can try to deinstall the “brltty”
and “brltty-X11” applications with Synaptic. This is only used for Braille Dis-
plays, but can automatically take over any serial port no matter what it is in-
tended for.
●
On Linux System in general you may have to add your use account to the
groups “uucp” and “lock”. Use the tools of your distribution for that, or edit
the file “/etc/groups” or “etc/group”. You need to use your root account.
Enter your username in the file at the entries: „lock:x:53:username“ and
„uucp:x:14:username“ or add it seperated by comma , at the end. If there
is no such entry, create it. Then you have to set write/read permissions as
root. Do „chmod 777 /dev/ttyUSB0“ if the USB Interface is named like this.
Then just login again or reboot the PC – now it should work.
●
In Windows Vista/7 or newer you must install the USB Driver from FTDI, do
NOT use the one included in Windows. This is installed by default when you
did not run the setup program from FTDI before you plug the USB Interface
into your Computer for the first time.
Check chapter 3 of this manual for
details please!
