Quick Reference Guide
Using the GlideScope Cobalt AVL
System
The GlideScope Video Cobalt AVL System provides a consistently clear view
of a patient’s airway, enabling quick intubation. There are several tasks you
must complete to successfully use the Cobalt AVL:
1. Select the appropriately-sized Cobalt AVL Video Baton and GVL
®
Stat for the patient.
2. If the video baton is not connected, connect the baton to the Cobalt
AVL monitor.
3. Insert the video baton into the Stat. Power on the system.
4. Verify that the video baton is operating properly and that an image
appears on the monitor screen.
5. Press the Record button to start or stop recording.
6. Reference the
GlideScope
4-Step Technique to perform intubations.
7. Optional: Download video to the USB drive.
Note: If the Cobalt AVL System locks up or becomes unresponsive for any
reason, press and hold the Power key for 10 seconds to power down
the system.
If the Cobalt AVL Video Baton or Stat are stored in cold conditions, addition-
al warming time may be required for optimal performance of the anti-fog
feature.

General Maintenance Information
Periodic inspections should be performed to ensure safe and effective
operation. It is recommended that a qualified technician perform a full
visual inspection of all components at least every three months.
