PREhEATING
1. Close the lid.
2. Unwind the cord and plug it into a standard
electrical outlet. The red power indicator light on
the front left corner will turn on (E).
3. Turn the temperature control dial to the desired
setting (see COOKING CHART on pages 7, 8, 9 and
10 for recommended settings) (F).
• The temperature ranges from 250ºF to 425ºF.
• To increase temperature, turn the dial
clockwise toward the HIGH setting.
• To decrease temperature, turn the dial
counterclockwise toward the LOW setting.
Note: The temperature can be changed at any time by turning the dial to the
desired setting.
4. Allow to preheat for at least 8 minutes. If desired, use a kitchen timer. When
the selected temperature is reached, the green ready light will turn on.
Note: The light will turn and off during use as the temperature is maintained;
this is normal.
USING ThE FLOATING hINGE POSITION (G)
Tip: The floating hinge position is used for preparing
Panini and other grilled sandwiches. It can also be
used for grilling. In this position the grilling plate
rests on top of the food.
1. Attach the top and bottom Panini plates and
preheat. Prepare your sandwiches as the
appliance heats up.
2. Using a pot holder, carefully open the lid.
3. Before first use, if desired, lightly oil the plates.
Note: Aerosol cooking spray should not be used on the nonstick surface. The
chemicals that allow the spray to come out of the can build up on the surface
of the plates and reduce their efficiency.
4. Carefully place foods to be cooked on the bottom plate. This appliance
usually accommodates 2 to 3 servings.
Important: Do not overload the cooking plate.
5. Close the lid in the floating hinge position with the lid closing directly onto
the food.

6. Allow food to cook for the desired time. If desired, use a kitchen timer.
Note: Use the suggested cooking times found in the COOKING CHART on
pages 7, 8, 9 and 10 as a guide.
Important: Do not leave the appliance unattended during use.
Tip: You can use light pressure on the handle to press and heat the food to
your liking.
Important: Do not use heavy pressure on the lid at any time.
7. After the selected time, the food should be done. If you would prefer
longer cooking, simply follow the steps beginning at step 4.
8. Using a pot holder, carefully open the lid.
9. Remove food using the plastic spatula provided or a nylon coated spatula.
Important: Always use heatproof plastic, silicone or wood utensils to
avoid scratching the nonstick surface of the plates. Never use metal
skewers, tongs, forks or knives.
10. Unplug to turn the appliance off.
Important: The heat continues to be ON until the appliance is unplugged.
11. Allow drip tray to cool completely before removing. Wash and dry the drip
tray after each use.
Caution: Do not attempt to remove the plates while the appliance is hot.
Always allow them to cool to room temperature before removing for
cleaning.
USING ThE ADJUSTABLE ANGLE
Tip: If you are using your Panini press as a grill, you can use the adjustable
angle feet at the front of the grill to angle the cooking surface. This allows fat
and grease to drain away from food while it cooks.
1. To use the adjustable angle, simply press on the
front of the feet on either side under the front of
the grill (h).
2. This will flip the feet over so the extended part of
each is out and the cooking surface slopes toward
the back. Make sure the feet are set firmly in the
sloped position before starting to grill.
Important: Always ensure the drip tray is in place to allow grease and
other liquids to drain properly when using the slope.
