4-2. MAINTENANCE OF THE WATER RESERVOIR
The dual compartment reservoir holds approximately 2 gallons (7.6 liters) of distilled water that
remains in the unit between periods of use. Quarterly, the water reservoir should be drained
and replenished. The drain hose, included in the packaging of the unit, is attached and the
water is pumped out of the unit. When the LOW WATER alarm sounds, the remaining water is
drained by gravity. Distilled/sterile-distilled water (or distilled water-bacteriostatic agent
preparation) is then poured into the reservoir.
NOTE: Do not use de-ionized water or alcohol
Quarterly, at a minimum, the FLUID CIRCUIT DISINFECTION/DRY STORAGE
PROCEDURE, listed below, should be conducted. All steps should be followed as closely as
possible.

4-2.1. Fluid Circuit Disinfection/Dry Storage Procedure (For Circulating Water Units
Utilizing Household Bleach)
The required tools/supplies:
Drain hose(s) and/or hose connector(s), household bleach, distilled water, U.S.P. Grade
Propylene Glycol, and the appropriate AC electrical power
The following procedure disinfects the fluid circuit in these products.
PROCEDURE:
A. Drain the water from the reservoir as described in Section 4-2.4.
B.
Turn unit
off (“O” position)

C. Fill the reservoir with the appropriate amount of household bleach per the below chart.
CAUTION

For safe handling and use of chemicals follow manufacturer guidelines.

Users should not use cleaning or decontamination methods different from those
recommended by CSZ without first checking with CSZ that the proposed methods
will not damage the equipment.

Always drain the BLANKETROL II to a sanitary drain because bio-contaminants
may be present in the unit’s water supply.
