Issue 2
LAN-Extension for T1 Flat Networks
In this procedure, you must configure two SC-IP units to operate in LAN-X mode on either side of
the WAN: the NOC SC-IP and the remote SC-IP. The Default value for each network parameter is
shown in the command string as: [default]. If the default value applies to your network, you do not
need to re-enter it. Otherwise, use the CLI to set the configuration value as required. Type
?
following any command, sub-command or parameter for context-sensitive online help.
Note
Some ADMIN mode configuration commands (i.e., enabling the craft port or setting up user accounts)
cannot be accessed or executed via the web interface.
Configure the NOC SC-IP
1. After initializing the NOC SC-IP for configuration, perform the following steps to configure
the unit for LAN-extension on a T1 network.
2. Set the system prompt for the NOC unit by typing:
configure prompt
[your_NOC_site]
3. Configure the T1 values for your network.
configure t1 clock-source
[line]
configure t1 fdl
[ANSI-T1.403]
configure t1 framing
[ESF]
configure t1 lbo ds1
[0.0dB]
configure t1 linecode
[B8ZS]
configure t1 loopback
[INHIBIT]
configure t1 timeslots
[1-24 64]
configure span-tree
[enable]
Note
When configuring the Line Buildout for DSX1, SC-IP uses five ranges of lengths: 0 - 133 ft, 133-266 ft,
266-399 ft, 399 - 533 ft, 533-655 ft. Be aware that if you select a value at the beginning of a range, such as
133 ft, SC-IP will use the lower range that includes that value.
Note
Once spanning tree is enabled, additional configurable options are available for that function. Do not change
these additional spanning tree options from the default settings unless you have a comprehensive
understanding of the spanning tree protocol. (Ref. IEEE 802.1D)
Note
Type
