For example, if we add “berenice” to both the Sales and
Accounting
group, she will be
able to access the inputs and outputs under both the
Sales
group and the
Accounting
group.
Access Levels
When a user is created, they are assigned an
access level
, which allows (or restricts) the
user from performing certain operations when they are logged in. There are two
access
levels
:
►
Administrator
access allows a user to manage (create / delete / change) users and
groups, as well as configure system / network settings on the Matrix Controller.
►
Operator
access restricts a user to routing operations, only. Users that are assigned
operator access cannot change system settings or manage users and groups.
Admin and Front Panel
The Matrix Controller comes with two users:
admin
and
front panel
. Both of these
users can be found under the
Users
tab and cannot be deleted. See
for details. The
admin
user is assigned
administrator
access level
and cannot be
changed. The
front panel
user is assigned
operator access level
, by default.
However, the
front panel
user can be assigned
administrator access level
. If you wish
to control routing through the front panel, the
front panel
user must be added to the
group that will be accessing the front panel.
It is important to make the distinction between the
admin
user
and
administrator access
level
: Any user can be given
administrator access level
. If a user is given
administrator
access level
, then they will have the same unrestricted access to the Matrix Controller as
the
admin
user does.
On a side note, it is not recommended to create a user called “operator”. This can cause
confusion, particularly if the user is assigned
administrator access level
.
