Battery exchange
When a battery alarm of the gACC-499E/U [OBIS code 97.97.0 (01010000)] appears, the user has X-month
time to exchange the batteries. X is determined by the
parameter: battlifeoffset=”6”.
The device has to be
set to a “normal” state again after the appearance of a battery alarm. It’s necessary to
follow the procedure below:
1.
Remove the cover of the gACC-499E/U by removing the 4 screws on the corners and the
2 sealing screws in the middle. Any affixed seals have to be removed.
2.
Disconnect all battery connectors.
3.
Remove the batteries from the straps
.
4.
Place the new batteries and tighten the straps. Pay attention to the locking of the straps
5.
Set DIP switch 3 to ON.
6.
First connect the battery to connector Bat 1.1 (Group 1) and wait approx. 1 minute
7.
Connect the battery to connector Bat 2.2 (Group2)
8.
After the replacement of the batteries, the device will always turn on (all LEDs on)
9.
Wait until all LEDs are on.
10.
Set DIP switch 2 to ON (this ensures that the device will not go to sleep)
11.
The clock has to be set to the correct time (see chapter 6)
12.
Set DIP switch 3 to OFF
13.
Set DIP switch 2 to OFF
By following this procedure the battery alarm is automatically reset, and the device can be used again for the
period of fully charged batteries.
Note that the lifespan of the batteries is greatly affected by the signal/reception strength. For areas with poor
network coverage a third battery pack can be placed. This third pack will be connected to the Bat3
connector.
In the config file an adjustment needs to be made: the
parameter dualmainbatt=”n” has to be changed in
dualmainbatt=”y”.

Cache Reset
In some cases it is necessary to reset the internal memory of the gACC-499E/U. When applying an encoder
the internal memory is arranged as a data logger. A reset will erase the entire contents of the memory. When
applying an gAVC 1200 the internal memory is used as a copy of the gAVC 1200 memory. This makes fast
communication of data to a data collection system possible,
Cache reset procedure:
1.
Open the housing of the gACC-499E/U by the 4 Philips screws on the corners and 2 sealing
screws in the middle of the cover. If a seal is applied this should be removed first.
2.
Set DIP-switch 3 to ON.
3.
Place the config cable into the config connector. Depending on the condition of the gACC-
499E/U (sleep or active) the device will start up (only READY and GSM will lighten) or if active
the CONNECTED LED will go out.
4.
Press the control key and select “Reset” in the gACC configuration program.(see
5.
“Deleting caches done” will appear in the main window of the configuration program followed
by an error message about communication (this is normal).
6.
Wait approx. 1 minute and click “Reset” (without the control key)
