Installation
5.1
Installation location
As associated apparatus the gACC-499E/U has to be installed outside the hazardous area.
For wall mounting of the gACC-499E/U the mounting holes in the housing can be used.
5.2
Connections
5.2.1
Potential equalizing
The intrinsic safety is entirely dependent on the operation of the potential equalizing.
In a hazardous area the potential equalizing has to be connected to the ground potential and the there built-
in devices.
There should be a wire with a diameter of at least 4mm² (or 2 wires of 1,5 mm
2
) to be connected from the
hazardous area to the PA terminal of the EX-499-UW.
5.2.2
Signal lines and power lines
All signal lines and power lines may be applied in assembled or separated cables.
When connecting these lines ensure that the length of the wires is minimized, to avoid contact with the non-
intrinsically safe part of the circuit.
For error-free communication a screened cable can be used. The screening will be unilateral connected to
the ground potential in the hazardous area.
For the gACC-499E/U the Zener Barriere Ex-499-UW is used.

5.2.4
The dividing wall
The dividing wall can be removed temporarily to gain easier access for inserting a SIM card. After inserting
the SIM card or any other operations wherefore the dividing wall was removed, always place it back in its
position. This is a requirement to comply with the conformity of the intrinsic safety. Make sure when placing
the dividing wall back in its position that no cables or wires are clamped under it.
5.2.5
Inserting the SIM card
To gain easy access to the SIM card holder the dividing wall can be
removed temporarily. The slot for the SIM card is located under the
white cover directly under the antenna (connection). With the use of
a pointed object the SIM card holder can be taken from the slot.
The SIM card has to be placed into the holder with the contact side
up, and then it can be slid back into the slot. When inserting a SIM
card it’s required that the modem is turned off. The dividing wall has
to be put back in its position after inserting a SIM card.
