19.1 Operational planning
19.1.1 Check your flight permission
1 Check if you need a permit to operate the X100 in the airspace above the site.
2 Make sure you understand the legal context for safe operation of the X100.
3 Check for existing rules/standards with your local Civil Aviation Authorities (CAA).
4 Make sure you have permission from the landowner.
19.1.2 Check the weather
1 Check the TV weather broadcast or weather websites in the days before the flight. This
gives you a good general idea of the weather for the next three to four days.
2 Consult and interpret aviation weather data through various weather websites for more
accurate weather forecasts. You can also contact the national meteorological office or a
local meteorology office at an airport nearby.
3 Consult the TAF and METAR reports on the day of the flight. These are meteorological
reports used in aviation.
19.1.3 Check the site
1 Identify the airspace and geographic environment of the site.
2 Check the aviation charts (airspace classes/types, airports, controlled air zones, ...).
3 Check if there are other aerial or ground activities (bicycle contest, manifestations,...)
