CHAPTER 2 PRIMEPOWER650 Rack-mount Type (8U) Server
2.2.2.2
Mode switch
The mode switch, which is on the operator panel, has three modes that can be
selected: LOCK, UNLOCK, or MAINTENANCE. Use this switch to enable or
disable the operations from the operator panel.
The function of these three modes are as follows:
• LOCK
For normal operation, the Mode switch should be set to the LOCK position. The alive
check of the operating system is enabled, so any hang-up in the operating system can
be detected.
In LOCK mode, the Solaris Operating Environment automatically starts up after the
power-on sequence is complete. It then confirms that the Automatic Power Supply
Control did not set the power-on stop-time, allowing completion of the power-on
sequence. Also, this mode disables sending the Break signal recognition.
• UNLOCK
The UNLOCK mode position switches the state definition to the software
maintenance state. The alive check of the operating system is disabled, so no hang-up
in the operating system can be detected.
This mode is only used for maintenance by certified service engineers. This mode
enables sending the Break signal recognition.
• MAINTENANCE
The MAINTENANCE mode changes the state definition to the hardware
maintenance state.
This mode is only used for maintenance by certified service engineers. The alive
check of the operating system is disabled, so no hang-up in the operating system can
be detected. This mode enables sending the Break signal recognition.
