Rack-mount Type (8U) Server

This chapter provides an overview of the PRIMEPOWER650 rack-mount type (8U)
server, and describes the functions of the main components. This chapter also
describes the preparations for use and unit expansion.
2.1
Overview
This overview provides a brief description of the features and appearance of the main
unit of the PRIMEPOWER650 rack-mount type (8U) server.
• Features

Supports a multiprocessor configuration of up to eight CPUs.
l
Supports up to 64 gigabytes of main memory.
l
Supports eight PCI slots (2 x 33/66 MHz + 6 x 33 MHz).
l
Supports 12 optional PCI slots (3 x 33/66 MHz + 9 x 33 MHz) if a PCIBOX is
installed.
l
Supports two built-in Ultra SCSI disk drives (as options).
l
Supports one built-in DAT tape drive (as an option).
l
Supports one DVD-ROM drive as standard equipment.
l
Supports one 100Base-TX/10Base-T port, one serial port (RS-232C), and a
keyboard port as standard components.
l
Supports redundant fan configuration (as standard equipment), N+1 redundant
power supply configuration (as an option), and dual power feed configuration (as
an option).
Note:
The N+1 redundant power supply configuration and dual power feed
configuration cannot be used together. The dual power feed can only be used
for 200 VAC.
