2.4  Nomenclature and Functions of Endoscope Distal End

Light Guide

The light from the light source is emitted 

from these windows.

Objective Lens

An image formed by this lens is displayed on the 

monitor.

Balloon Air Feed Outlet

The air supplied from the balloon air feed inlet 

exits from this outlet. When air is removed from 

the balloon air feed inlet, the air inside the balloon 

is take in from this outlet.

Air/Water Nozzle

This nozzle jets air or water onto the objective lens 

with the air/water valve operation.

Cover

Instrument Channel Outlet

Forceps or endotherapy device emerges 

from this part. This portion is also used as a 

suction inlet.
