General remarks
Indicating the welding circuit inductivity L
The way that the hosepack is arranged has a very significant effect on the welding
properties. Particularly with pulsed-arc welding and AC welding, a high welding circuit
inductivity may occur, depending on the length of the hosepack and on the way that it is
arranged. The result is that the current-rise is restricted.
Measuring the
welding circuit
inductivity L
-
Measure the welding circuit resistance “r” (see the section headed: “Indicating the
welding circuit resistance “r”)
-
Select set-up parameter “L”
-
See: “The set-up menu: Level 2”, either sub-section “TIG set-up parameters” or
sub-section “Rod electrode set-up parameters”, depending on which process is
being used
-
The right-hand display now shows the welding circuit inductivity L (e.g. 5
microhenrys)
You can attempt to optimise the welding
result by changing the arrangement of the
hosepack. The hosepack must be laid out
as shown in the illustration.
