Care, maintenance and disposal
General
Under normal operating conditions the spot welding gun requires only a minimum of care
and maintenance. However, it is vital to observe some important points to ensure the weld-
ing system remains in a usable condition for many years.
In terms of maintenance intervals, always select the earlier time.
Maintenance to
be carried out dai-
ly or each time the
tape is changed
-
Check electrode alignment (remove tape guide cap, adjust electrodes to the distance
of the sheet to be welded, carry out visual inspection of electrode alignment, tolerance
= 0.5 mm from the central axis, adjust electrode alignment if necessary (see "Calibrat-
ing welding arms")
-
Check electrodes for wear
-
Check sheet thickness correction for the required applications (operating range 10 -
15° from top dead centre)
-
Check tape transport (brake setting)
-
Check wear of tape guide caps (tape must not be in contact with the electrode during
tape feed)
-
Check that the tape spooling device lock is firmly seated
-
When welding with "adhesive", clean the tape feed mechanism with a detergent rec-
ommended by the adhesive manufacturer
-
General visual inspection of the DeltaSpot welding gun for damage and leaks
Weekly mainte-
nance or after
every 50000 spots
-
Check cooling pipe setting
-
Check ease of movement, location and contamination of tape guide rollers
-
Check that screws are firmly seated
-
Check that plug connections are firmly seated
-
Check cables for damage
-
Check coolant quality (See "Guidelines for system cooling")
-
Clean DeltaSpot welding gun with a damp cloth
Weekly mainte-
nance or after
every 200000
spots
-
Check welding current and electrode force with measuring device
-
Clean cooling system with compressed air
-
Flow control:
-
If there is no individual circuit query by means of flow sensors, flow control on gun
arms, transformer and power source is by means of external flow sensors
-
If there is individual circuit query by means of flow sensors, check LED indicator
of the flow sensors
-
Check the current tape for wear (maximum 15% strand breakage)
-
Check plug connections for corrosion
After 250,000 spot
welds
Lubricate the main drive via the grease nipple with 1.5 cm³ of KPF2N-30 (DIN 51502) lu-
bricant (mineral oil/soap based lithium with EP additives and MoS2). Item number of lubri-
cant: 40,0009,0132
WARNING!
Machines that start up automatically can cause serious injury and
damage. In addition to these operating instructions, the safety rules issued by the
manufacturer of the robot and welding systems must also be observed. For your
personal safety, ensure that all protective measures have been taken and will re-
main in place for the duration of your stay within the working area of the robot.
