IP [Internet Protocol]
One of the communication protocols. Used commonly for the Internet.

IP address
Address to recognize network devices when conducting IP communication (IP network).
Indicated with four numbers (0 to 255) divided by periods (ex. 192.168.1.1).

ISDN [Integrated Services Digital Network]
Integrated digital communication network.

LAN [Local Area Network]
Computer network connecting multiple PCs in the same floor or the same building by
cables.

Limitation user
The user who cannot change a setting of the system of Windows. Administrator privilege is
needed to perform installation of application or a driver.

Modem
Device which enables communication from PC via telephone line.

OBEX [Object Exchange]
One of the international standards for data communication. Data can be sent and received
between devices such as mobile phone, PC, digital camera and printer supporting OBEX.

OS [Operating System]
Software which manages the overall computer functions. Ex. Windows XP, Windows 2000
Professional, Windows Me and Windows 98.

PCMCIA driver [Personal Computer Memory Card International Association driver]
Device driver conforming to PCMCIA's PC Card Standard. There are three types of PC card
depending on its thickness; Type I, Type II and Type III.

Port
The interface connector which connects the PC to peripherals such as printer.

Property
Attributes and settings that Windows' files and icons have. Can be viewed or edited by right-
clicking such icons.

Protocol
Communication regulation for sending and receiving data between computers.

Provider
Dealers providing services to connect to the Internet. In general, we sign up with a provider
to use the Internet.
