3.3 Internal Adjustments and Jumpers
These adjustments and jumpers are accessible only by removing board level HyperConverters from
their PC slots or by removing the top of Desktop HyperConverters. Some of these adjustments
(indicated below) should only be modified with professional test equipment. Other adjustments (also
indicated below) should be made ONLY by Focus Enhancements service personnel.
3.3.1 17.734476 MHz. Crystal Adjustment VC40
This control adjusts the frequency of the 17.734476 MHz Crystal. This adjustment should be made
only by Focus Enhancements service personnel.
3.3.2 14.31818 MHz. Crystal Adjustment VC33
This control adjusts the frequency of the 14.31818 MHz Crystal. This adjustment should be made only
by Focus Enhancements service personnel.
3.3.3 YUV-RGB Jumpers JP3
Jumper JP3 determines whether RGB or YUV component signals will appear on Connector P1 (and
consequently at the RGB outputs of the HyperCable-PC-RGB, HyperCable-MAC-RGB, HyperCable-
SUN-RGB, etc.). The HyperConverter provides a three component output (RGB or YUV) signal on
Pins 10, 5 and 9 of connector P1 respectively. (A Composite Sync signal is supplied on Pin 12). For
RGB operation Pin 2 to Pin 3, Pin 5 to Pin 6, Pin 8 to Pin 9, Pin 11 to Pin 12, Pin 14 to Pin 15, Pin 17
to Pin 18 of JP3 should be connected together. (This is the factory default position). (Please note:
Pins 16, 17 and 18 of jumper JP3 exist only on HyperConverter fab # 0006-1100-500 and higher). For
YUV operation Pin 1 to Pin 2, Pin 4 to Pin 5, Pin 7 to Pin 8, Pin 10 to Pin 11, Pin 13 to Pin 14, Pin 16
to Pin 17, of JP3 should be connected together. (Please note: Pins 16, 17 and 18 of jumper JP3 exist
only on HyperConverter fab # 0006-1100-500 and higher).
If your YUV video equipment requires no 7.5 IRE setup, remove the jumper connecting Pin 1 to Pin 2
of JP3. Otherwise this jumper should be installed.
