2.6 Workstation Desktop Version
Since the physical implementation of the HyperConverter is an ISA compatible board for all versions,
no board level workstation product exists. The Workstation Desktop version is designed to work with
all workstations that use BNC connectors to provide RGB signals to High Resolution Monitors. Since
there are a wide variety of synchronization types and levels, the HyperConverter's flexible design
enables the user to adjust the HyperConverter to various synchronization signals by configuration of
the HyperCable-BNC.
Computer video is generated in one of three ways:
5 wire - Separate signals for Red, Green, Blue, Horizontal Sync and Vertical Sync.
4 wire - Separate signals for Red, Green and Blue. Horizontal and
Vertical Sync are combined into a single signal and delivered on a separate wire.
3 wire - Separate signals for Red, Green and Blue. Horizontal and Vertical Sync are combined into a
single signal. The composite H and V signals is embedded into one or more of the Red, Green or Blue
active video signal. By industry tradition, it is expected to be found on the Green signal.
As a general rule of thumb, the following assumptions can be made about synchronization
configuration for the following popular computers:

Turn the workstation off.
Select a convenient location for the HyperConverter.
Disconnect the workstation High Resolution Monitor from the workstation's Computer Graphics
output. (Disregard this if you are using a distribution amplifier or similar parallel path from your
computer).
